Beebe Medical Center has not used NECC Contaminated Steroid Product
Posted: October 15, 2012The national news has reported numerous deaths due to a fungal meningitis infection caused by a contaminated steroid product administered in hospitals as an epidural injection.
The New England Compounding Center (NECC) in Framingham, MA, prepared the product in question, a preservative-free, methylprednisolone acetate. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration are coordinating a multi-state investigation. Products were recalled on October 6, 2012.
Beebe Medical Center has never carried the NECC contaminated product or administered it to any of its patients.
