The Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing at Beebe Medical Center Offers One-Day Baby-sitting ClassesPosted: May 31, 2012
The Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing at Beebe Medical Center invites girls and boys ages 12 and 13 to participate in baby-sitter education classes. This one-day course will take place on the following days: Tuesday, June 19; Thursday, June 21; Tuesday, June 26, and Thursday, June 28. The classes will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the School, located at the rear of Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
Students will learn how to be safe and effective babysitters. Instructors will be registered nurses and special speakers.
Topics to be covered include: characteristics and qualities of a good sitter; child development and age-appropriate activities; safe home practices for fire and protection; first-aid practices for minor injuries and medical problems; and infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and airway obstruction management. Students will get hands-on practice in First Aid and CPR methods. The cost is $50 per student. Participants should bring a bag lunch. Juice and snacks will be provided.
