Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing Offers FREE Stroke Risk Assessment at Wal Mart in Rehoboth BeachPosted: April 17, 2012
Beebe Medical Center, in conjunction with the American Heart Association, will host two, free Stroke Risk Assessments on Thursday, April 19, 2012, and on Thursday, May 3, 2012, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. They will be located in front of the pharmacy at the Rehoboth Wal-Mart on Route 1.
There is no need to schedule an appointment. In just a few minutes, a person can identify their risk for stroke, have their blood pressure and pulse checked, and receive education pertaining to the warning signs and ways to reduce their chances of stroke.
According to the American Heart Association, Stroke is the No. 3 killer and the No. 1 disabler of Americans. Every 60 seconds someone suffers a stroke. Every 3 minutes someone dies from a stroke. Stroke needs to be treated with the same sense of urgency as a heart attack. Because of this, the terminology for a stroke is “Brain Attack”. Early intervention can minimize brain injury and preventive care may reduce the risk of stroke.
