Laura Roessler
Colorectal Cancer Survivor
When Laura Roessler came to Tunnell Cancer Center five years ago to be treated for colorectal cancer, it was her joy of running that gave her and Clare Wilson, RN, MS, Cancer Care Coordinator, something personal to share. Clare was training for a half marathon in Jamaica.
“We talked about running together one day,” Clare says. “It gave me a sense of normalcy,” Laura recalls. “At the time I didn’t know if I would ever be able to run again.”
But she did. In fact, Laura and Clare ran together, participating in a breast cancer run, and have been running ever since.
Clare and Laura have also bonded in the kitchen, making everything from homemade pasta to chocolate ganache cheesecake—flour, sugar, and wonderful times together for which they are so very thankful.
