Registration is Under Way for 2010 Asthma Camp
03/17/10
Beebe Medical Center announces that registration is under way for the 2010 Asthma Camp, to take place July 12 to July 16 at the University of Delaware's Virden Center in Lewes.
This unique, week-long day camp is specifically designed to accommodate children between the ages of 7 and 11 that suffer from asthma. Beebe Medical Center sponsors the annual day camp together with the American Lung Association.
Campers can participate in a variety of typical camp activities such as kayaking, hiking, seining, swimming and educational games. They take part in art projects, go on field trips, and have lessons on diet, exercise, and disease management under the instruction of on-site physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists through an integrated asthma education program. The cost is $50 for the week and includes all education, activities and field trips, as well as lunch and two snacks daily. The Respiratory Care Team at Beebe Medical Center raises money throughout the year to be able to give scholarships to those campers needing help meeting the registration fee and to pay for field trips.
Drop-off time is 7:30 a.m. each day and pick-up time is 5 p.m. For more information or to sign up a child, please contact camp organizer Angela Lindale, RRT, at (302) 645-3300, ext. 5764, or email her at alindale@bbmc.org
