Beebe Medical Center Honors Administrative Assistant with Award
11/10/09
Connie Reed, Administrative Assistant in Cardiac Rehab, has been honored by Beebe Medical Center with the You Make a Difference Award for November.
When nominating Reed for the award, those who work with her cited her positive attitude when it comes to telephone etiquette, teamwork and safety. They acknowledged that most of the day she is on the telephone dealing with potential patients who may not be interested in participating in a cardiac rehab program. Yet she is always courteous and compassionate, and on every call patiently explains what the program entails and what information is needed from the patient.
Reed works behind the scenes so that the clinical staff can devote their time to the patients. Her team members say that she keeps the department running smoothly. She contacts patients, schedules interviews and manages the charts in their varying stages of development. As a result, there is currently a consistent flow that allows her team members to find charts when they answer the phone in her absence. Known to be dependable, she is counted on to have the computers turned on and the file drawers unlocked when starting each day.
Reed's team members say she put the word service in Customer Service. She always has a smile and a kind word for those around her, and goes out of her way to help a patient or visitor, even when she is overwhelmed and being pulled in many directions.
Beebe Medical Center's You Make a Difference employee recognition program, which was established in 2002, gives employees the opportunity to recognize their colleagues for outstanding service. The program is similar to an employee of the month program, but 18 employees can be selected annually. Each nomination, which may be submitted by fellow employees or management, must meet criteria developed by the committee. The You Make a Difference Review Board evaluates eligible nominations each month. Winners are announced in a surprise ceremony in which the committee meets in their department and presents the award. Employees selected for the award receive:
§ Parking space with sign/plaque for a month
§ $100 gift certificate to business of choice within Sussex County
§ Letter of congratulations and personal visit from Jeffrey Fried, Beebe president
§ Photo for wall plaque on hall outside of cafeteria
§ Special pin for badge
§ Letter to team member's director and department recognition
