07/28/09
A surprise is waiting for those who play in the 10th Annual Jean & Joan Fund Golf Classic, to take place Tuesday, October 6, at the Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach.
A two-year lease on a BMW sedan 3 series, donated by i.g. Burton Imports of Milford, will be the prize for the hole-in-one contest. An adorable, pint-sized BMW pedal car for a budding golfer, also donated by i.g. Burton, will be auctioned off on the evening of the tournament.
The entry fee is $175 for an individual player or $700 for a foursome. It includes green and cart fees, lunch, dinner, prizes and beverages. The event begins at 11 a.m. with registration and lunch. There will be a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.
Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes awards and a silent auction. The Jean & Joan Fund is a 501(c) 3, non-profit organization. The fee is tax deductible, less the fair market value of the event.

The Jean & Joan Fund was established in the memory of Jean James and Joan Martin, two outstanding women who lost their battles against cancer. It has become the official charity of the King's Creek Country Club, demonstrating its continuing support of local charitable activities. Its mission is to assist needy patients and families at Tunnell Cancer Center. Over the past 10 years, total contributions made to Tunnell Cancer Center have topped $250,000. They have been used to purchase the Tunnell Shuttle, which is used to transport patients to and from the center, medical equipment and to establish the Jean & Joan Fund New Reflections Center at the Tunnell Cancer Center. The Jean & Joan Fund also provided the start-up funding for the Tunnell Cancer Center's Patient Special Needs Fund, which is used to purchase specific items for individual cancer patients so that they can stay in cancer treatment.
