Beebe Medical Center Honors Employee with You Make a Difference Award

06/08/09

" Trisha Holland, Manager/Office Coordinator of the Beebe Medical Center Oncology Service Line, has earned the You Make a Difference award for June.

Ms. Holland, who is based at Beebe Medical Center's Tunnell Cancer Center, is known by team members for her hard work, compassion and leadership qualities. Since the Tunnell Cancer Center moved from the hospital's main campus in Lewes to the Beebe Health Campus in Rehoboth Beach, Ms. Holland has worked relentlessly, striving to make the new center even better than the previous one. She has been cited for going above and beyond, handling a workload of three people and always with a smile. Even during trying times, she proves to be consistently upbeat, supportive and caring of her fellow team members. As a result, team members respect her and enjoy working with her.

Ms. Holland's caring and compassionate ways far exceed customer service standards. Tunnell Cancer Center patients have said that they can rely on her for encouragement and support. Patients say that she makes them feel special and loved, encouraging them to look forward to brighter days ahead. Team members also have acknowledged Ms. Holland for the support she has given them over the years. For example, a few years ago when several team members suffered their own personal tragedies, yet knew they had to remain strong for their patients, she kept her door open, always available and always seeming to know what to do.
Ms. Holland strength and bravery have been an inspiration to many.

Tunnell Cancer Center team members, to show their appreciation, nominated Ms. Holland for the award. Beebe Medical Center's You Make a Difference employee recognition program, which was established in 2002, gives employees the opportunity to recognize their colleagues for outstanding service. The program is similar to an employee of the month program, but 18 employees can be selected annually. Each nomination, which may be submitted by fellow employees or management, must meet criteria developed by the committee. The You Make a Difference Review Board evaluates eligible nominations each month. Winners are announced in a surprise ceremony in which the committee meets in their department and presents the award. Employees selected for the award receive:

§ Parking space with sign/plaque for a month
§ $100 gift certificate to business of choice within Sussex County
§ Letter of congratulations and personal visit from Jeffrey Fried, Beebe president
§ Photo for wall plaque on hall outside of cafeteria
§ Special pin for badge
§ Letter to team member's director and department recognition
