05/28/09

Beebe Medical Center has organized a new support group for those with pulmonary diseases. The first meeting of the Better Breathers Club will take place 1:30 p.m., June 10, in the McCurry Conference Center at the Beebe Health Campus on John J. Williams Highway (Route 24) in Rehoboth Beach.

We have been asked by many of our patients to organize a support group for those suffering from lung diseases as there is not one in our area, says Trina Clark, MS, RRT, Director of Respiratory/Sleep/EKG Services at Beebe Medical Center. We are happy that we can now bring this important support and education to our community. We welcome anyone who is interested to join us.

The Better Breathers Club will include information on pulmonary disease and treatments presented by respiratory therapists, physicians, dieticians and pharmacists. Attendees also will have the opportunity to suggest topics that they would like to have discussed at these meetings.

The first meeting will be a general overview with a focus on information gathering. Those struggling with pulmonary diseases, their supporters and caregivers are invited to attend. The meeting is free and no reservations are required. The McCurry Conference Center is located in the Medical Arts Building, the same building in which the Tunnell Cancer Center is located. To get to conference center, enter the building through the main doors leading to the Medical Arts Building, which is on the other side of the building from the entrance to Tunnell Cancer Center.
