Beebe Medical Center Respiratory Therapist Earns "You Make a Difference" Award

05/26/09

Angela Lindale, RT, a respiratory therapist, has been honored by Beebe Medical Center with the You Make a Difference Award for May.

Lindale has been cited by her peers as a tremendous asset to Beebe Medical Center's Respiratory Department, as well as to other departments throughout the hospital. She has gone beyond the call of duty to educate and train the respiratory staff and nursing staff. She focuses on quality improvement and continually raising the bar. In January, she was instrumental in planning a week of educational programs for the Respiratory team, and also helped to coordinate a critical skills day for the nursing units.

Lindale has been supportive of those outside of Beebe's walls as well. She has supported the annual summer asthmas camp for children that takes place at the University of Delaware's Virden Center in Lewes. Beebe Medical Center, together with the American Lung Association, sponsors the camp. She has helped respiratory students at Delaware Technical & Community College, teaching them important skills, while at the same time serving as an ambassador for Beebe Medical Center.

Beebe Medical Center's You Make a Difference employee recognition program, which was established in 2002, gives employees the opportunity to recognize their colleagues for outstanding service. The program is similar to an employee of the month program, but 18 employees can be selected annually. Each nomination, which may be submitted by fellow employees or management, must meet criteria developed by the committee. The You Make a Difference Review Board evaluates eligible nominations each month. Winners are announced in a surprise ceremony in which the committee meets in their department and presents the award. Employees selected for the award receive:

* Parking space with sign/plaque for a month
* $100 gift certificate to business of choice within Sussex County
* Letter of congratulations and personal visit from Jeffrey Fried, Beebe president
* Photo for wall plaque on hall outside of cafeteria
* Special pin for badge
* Letter to team member's director and department recognition
