Beebe School of Nursing Sponsors the 17th Annual Conference by the Bay

The Seventeenth Annual Conference by the Bay, a daylong educational seminar for nurses sponsored by Beebe Medical Center School of Nursing, will take place Friday, April 24, at the BayCenter on Dickinson Street in Dewey Beach. The purpose of the annual conference is to provide nursing professionals in the Mid-Atlantic region with updates on nursing for 2009.
The speakers and their subjects are:
Marjorie L. Hershberger, MS, RN, BC, PNP-BC, CPNP, Coordinator for Shaken Baby Syndrome Program for Prevent Child Abuse, Delaware -- The Key to Safe Sleeping Practice;
Denise L. Lyons, MSN, GCNS, BC, and Linda Sydnor, MSN, GCNS, BC, geriatric clinical nurses specialists at Christiana Care Health System -- We Improve Senior Health;
Stephanie L. Goodwin, DO, FACC, Medical Director of Interventional Cardiology at Beebe Medical Center -- Understanding Heart Disease;
Janice Selekman, DNSc, RN, NCSN, Professor in Nursing at University of Delaware -- It's Just Not Kids Doing Funky Things to Their Bodies;
Michael D. Sofronski, MD, President/Founder of Delmarva Bariatric Center -- The Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band and Healthy Lifestyle Changes;
Bruce Johnson, M.Div., President, Accelerated Growth Consulting -- How to Develop a Positive Attitude That'll Get You through the Day.
Beebe will award 6.3 contact hours via certificate at the completion of the program. Beebe is an approved provider of Nursing Continuing Education by the Delaware Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver of Continuing Education in Nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center on Accreditation.
The day will begin with registration at 7:15 a.m. and will end at 4 p.m. The fee for the conference is $90 general registration, $50 employee or Beebe retiree, and $40 for full-time basic nursing student. This includes the one-day conference, continental breakfast, refreshments, conference materials and buffet lunch.
Space is limited so reserve seating by completing the registration form and turning in to the Beebe School of Nursing with a check made payable to Beebe School of Nursing, by April 15. An additional $10 late registration fee is required for registrants after the deadline, if space is available. The school is located behind and adjacent to the main campus of the Beebe Medical Center at 424 Savannah Road in Lewes.
