Tunnell Cancer Center Presents Documentary "Crazy Sexy Cancer" to Raise Funds

10/07/08

Tunnell Cancer Center announces a memorable evening of festivities to inspire cancer survivors and their caregivers, family, friends and supporters that will take place November 7 at the historic Milton Theatre. The evening will support the Tunnell Cancer Center Special Needs Fund, which is designed to meet emergent needs for patients with limited financial resources, and to reduce the psychological distress associated with cancer treatment. All of the money raised will go directly to this fund.

A highlight of the evening will be the inspirational documentary Crazy Sexy Cancer, created by photographer Kris Carr, a young woman who finds herself while looking for a cure for her cancer.

In 2003, 31-year-old Carr was diagnosed with a rare and incurable cancer. Weeks later she began filming her story. Taking a seemingly tragic situation and turning it into a creative expression, she shares her inspirational story of survival with courage, strength, and lots of humor.

Crazy Sexy Cancer is about rising to the challenge of life, and no matter what, refusing to give up who you are. This story is as funny as it is frightening, as joyous as it is outrageous. Ultimately, Crazy Sexy Cancer is a thought provoking film about, friendship, love and growing up. Details can be found on Carr's website www.crazysexylife.com

The evening event in Milton, to take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., will include hors d'oeuvres, beverages, and Chinese and silent auctions. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased through the Tunnell Cancer Center. There will be a limited number of tickets available; and, they can be reserved at the door.
