05/22/08
The Fifth Annual Cancer Survivors' "Miracle Mile," sponsored by Beebe Medical Center's Tunnell Cancer Center, is scheduled to take place 8 a.m., Saturday, June 7, on the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk.
The event, which is organized in support of cancer survivors, will begin with a recognition ceremony at All Saints Episcopal Church on Olive Avenue. Participants will then proceed to the boardwalk. After the walk, participants are invited back to the church hall for a light breakfast and fellowship.
"It is an inspirational event celebrating survivorship, camaraderie and hope," says organizer Judith Ramirez, the Tunnell Cancer Center social worker.
More than 100 people take part in the annual event. Cancer survivors, relatives and friends are warmly welcomed to attend. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the ceremony beginning at 8 a.m. Everyone who registers before May 30 will receive an event cap, and a water bottle. T-shirts will be given to survivors.
