Beebe School of Nursing Sponsors the 16th Annual Conference By The Bay

The Sixteenth Annual Conference by the Bay, a daylong educational seminar for nurses sponsored by Beebe Medical Center School of Nursing, will take place Friday, April 25, at the Rusty Rudder's BayCenter on Dickinson Street in Dewey Beach. The purpose of the annual conference is to provide nursing professionals in the Mid-Atlantic region with updates on nursing for 2008.
The subjects to be focused on this year are: "Horizontal Hostility," presented by Peggy A Diehl, RN, MSN, CEN, Beebe Medical Center Community Health Nurse Coordinator; "Healthcare Disparities," presented by James E. Spellman, MD, Chief of Surgery at Beebe Medical Center; Kay Malone, RN, BSN, MSH, Chief Operating Officer at La Red Health Center in Georgetown, and Michelle Beckett-El Soloh, CHAP Care Coordinator;
"Obesity in Childhood," presented by Judith Gorra, MD, Beebe Medical Center pediatrician; "A Mother's Journey - Family-Centered Improvement to Patient Safety," presented by Sorrel King, Co-Founder, Josie King Foundation of Baltimore, MD; and "Environmental Emergencies: Hazards of the Great outdoors," presented by Linda Laskowski Jones, RN, MS, APRN, BC, CCRN, CEN, Vice-President: Emergency, Trauma and Aeromedical Services at Christiana Care Health System, Newark, DE.
Beebe will award 6.0 contact hours via certificate at the completion of the program. Beebe is an approved provider of Nursing Continuing Education by the Delaware Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver of Continuing Education in Nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center on Accreditation.
The day will begin with registration at 7:15 a.m. and will end at 4 p.m. The fee for the conference is $90 general registration, $50 employee or retiree, and $40 for full-time basic nursing student. This includes the one-day conference, continental breakfast, refreshments, conference materials and buffet lunch.
Space is limited so reserve seating by completing the registration form and turning in to the Beebe School of Nursing with a check made payable to Beebe School of Nursing, by April 16. To obtain a registration form or for any questions, contact the Beebe School of Nursing at 645-3251, ext. 5469. An additional $10 late registration fee is required for registrants after the deadline, if space is available. The school is located behind and adjacent to the main campus of the Beebe Medical Center at 424 Savannah Road in Lewes.
The Beebe School of Nursing, based at Beebe Medical Center, is the only hospital-based nursing program in Delaware, and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Beebe graduates have one of the highest NCLEX pass rates in the state and can complete a Bachelors in Nursing degree at Wilmington College through an articulation agreement with one additional year of study.
