Dr. Shreeve and Patti Shreeve Named Honorary Chairs of Thanksgiving Ball

10/01/07

The Beebe Medical Foundation is proud to announce that Tom Shreeve, M.D. and his wife Patti Shreeve have been named the Honorary Chairpersons of the 20th Annual Thanksgiving Ball to take place November 3 at the Baycenter in Dewey Beach.

"The Shreeves have been strong supporters of Beebe Medical Center over the years as medical staff and on the Medical Center Board of Directors. They have been actively involved in both the Thanksgiving Ball and the Art Auction," said Alex Sydnor, Executive Director of the Beebe Medical Foundation. "We appreciate their commitment to Beebe and to our fundraising events."

The Shreeves moved to Rehoboth Beach 17 years ago from Baltimore when Dr. Shreeve joined Beebe Medical Center as an emergency physician. Dr. Shreeve had been an emergency physician at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. Mrs. Shreeve serves on the Beebe Medical Center Board of Directors. Mrs. Shreeve, a local artist, also has worked on the event committees, taking part in making the creative table decorations that have made the event so unique. She also is involved in other community organizations. She has served seven and a half years as a member of the Rehoboth Beach Board of Commissioners and four years on the Rehoboth Beach Planning Commission. She is a supporter of the Rehoboth Beach Main Street.

The Shreeves were donors to the Vision 2005 Capital Campaign, which raised $12.4 million and was the largest Beebe Medical Foundation fundraising campaign to date.

In 1998, Beebe Medical Center emergency medicine physicians formed the Sussex Emergency Associates, of which Dr. Shreeve now serves as president. The organization is a strong supporter of Beebe Medical Center and sponsors of the Thanksgiving Ball. It also donated to the Vision 2005 Capital Campaign, and is a sponsor of the free water safety program held at the Sussex Family YMCA in Rehoboth Beach. This program, in the spring of 2007, helped prepare more than 300 children and their families for the summer season. The YMCA worked with First State Community Action Agency to find children to take part who might not have had the opportunity to learn how to swim. Local school districts also distributed information on the lessons.

The Thanksgiving Ball is a major fundraising event for Beebe Medical Center, second only to the annual Art Auction, dinner and dance that takes place in June. This year, all proceeds from The Thanksgiving Ball will benefit the new Beebe South Coastal Health Campus being built on Route 26 in Clarksville.
