Beebe Medical Center Honors Employees in Patient Access Roles

04/04/07

Beebe Medical Center recently joined healthcare organizations across the country in observing National Healthcare Access Personnel Week to honor employees in Patient Access roles.

Employees in Beebe Medical Center's Patient Access Department are most often responsible for providing patients and visitors with their first impressions of the Medical Center. They are the switchboard operators and receptionists, and those who work in pre-registration, inpatient insurance verification, Emergency Department registration and admitting, as well as the department's quality analysts and trainers.

"The staff who perform Access functions across the organization touch every patient and visitor who comes to Beebe Medical Center," said Barbara Moulinier, Director of Patient Access and a Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM). "All of us at Beebe are proud of the efforts put forth by the Patient Access Department and our peers in the clinical departments. Each of these team members provide services to our patients such as answering phone calls through the switchboard, greeting patients and visitors at the entrances, scheduling appointments, pre-registering patients over the phone, notifying payers within contract requirements and obtaining authorization for admissions, and registering patients upon arrival for services."

With a goal of maintaining a high quality of patient care and customer service, Beebe Medical Center's Patient Access Department over the past 18 months has encouraged team members to enroll in the national Certification for Healthcare Access Associates (CHAA) or Certified Healthcare Access Managers (CHAM) programs. Beebe is very proud to have one of the highest numbers of certified staff in the country.

The following staff received their CHAA:

Barb Allen, Margaret Brown, Peggy Callahan, Teena Crane, Carol Droney, Dru Goldberg, Fran Hazewski, Ivana Kerr, Libby Klein, Lauri Kreis, Donna Mitchell, Michael Moeser, Bob Ninzatti, Tracy O'Hara, Sharon Ostasewski, Connie Paller, Rhonda Peterson, Elsie Pfarr, Don Radcliffe, Mary Shahady, Diane Smedira, Cathie Stango, Jean Taylor, Selena Taylor, Lois Terrell, and Connie Wiley.
National Healthcare Access Personnel Week is sponsored by the National Association of Healthcare Access Management, which provides quality educational programming and interaction for professionals engaged in the management of patient access services in healthcare delivery.
