Beebe Medical Center Offers Free Glucose Screenings Every Wednesday

03/19/07

Beebe Medical Center continues to offer free glucose screenings from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. every Wednesday at four convenient locations. No appointments are necessary.

The screenings are part of Beebe Medical Center's mission to encourage healthy living, prevent illness and restore optimal health to those visiting and living in local communities. The results of these screening can indicate whether a patient needs to see a physician for evaluation for diabetes. Diabetes is the fifth deadliest disease in the nation and there is no cure. According to the American Diabetes Association, more than 21 million people in the United States have diabetes.

The screenings are available at the following Beebe Medical Center Sites:
1) First Floor Phlebotomy Lab, Beebe Medical Center - telephone: (302) 645-3568
2) Beebe Lab Express-Five Points - telephone: (302) 644-9344
3) Beebe Health Campus, Route 24 - telephone (302) 645-3010 ext. 2444
4) Beebe Lab Express-Milton - telephone: (302) 684-8579

Those taking the screening should eat a normal meal two hours before. It is a simple finger stick test. Please be aware that this is a screening, and not intended for management of diabetes. For more information, please call (302) 645-3568.
