Beebe Medical Center Held its Third Annual Community Heart Fair

Beebe Medical Center held its 3rd Annual Community Heart Fair at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center on Thursday, February 22, 2007 to a crowd of more than 1,000 people. Screenings for Glucose, Cholesterol, Body Mass Index (BMI), Stroke Risk Assessment, and Blood Pressure were available at no cost to attendees.
Beebe Medical Center departments participating in the fair were: Community Health, Cardiovascular Services, Lab Services, Integrative Health, Surgical Services and Patient Financial Services. Students from Beebe School of Nursing were also on hand and provided valuable assistance to Community Health and Lab Services in supporting screening activities. Konrad Nobel, LMT and Cathy Robinson, LMT members of the Allied Health staff at Beebe gave free head and neck massages.
Attendees also received helpful information about other heart -related wellness resources from the American Heart Association, Blood Bank of Delaware, and the Delaware Quitline.
Beebe Medical Center President and CEO Jeff Fried kicked off the event. "Heart disease is the nation's number one killer. Stroke is the nation's third-leading cause of death. Both are major causes of permanent disability. Every 33 seconds another American dies of heart disease. Beebe Medical Center's mission to encourage healthy living and prevent illness is the reason this fair is so important," said Fried.
Free food and entertainment were provided. Comcast Spotlight sponsored door prizes.
