Beebe School of Nursing First-Year Students Donate to Delaware Food Bank
12/13/06
Beebe School of Nursing First-Year students joined forces this year to gather food for the Delaware Food Bank based in Milford. Together they gave 603 pounds of food supplies, and got the shipment there the week before Thanksgiving.
We are very proud of these students, says Ginny Rickards, Student Council Advisor. They have displayed a true sense of generosity and a concern and empathy for others. Our goal is to help them become the best nurses that they can be.
Community service projects are a tradition with students of the Beebe School of Nursing. Students carry out many services activities such as beach cleanups, supporting needy families through the Sussex Consortium and raising money for the American Heart Association Walk and for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
The Delaware Student Nurses Association presented the Beebe School of Nursing with the Spirit Award for community service in April 2006. There were 25 different projects listed. Beebe School of Nursing faculty members also get involved in these events.
