7th Annual Jean & Joan Golf Tournament Nets $30,000 for Tunnell Cancer Center

11/10/06

The seventh annual Jean & Joan Fund tournament was played at Kings Creek County Club on October 3 with 95 golfers. Since its founding in 1999, the tournament is held each year to support patients and their families under care at the Tunnell Cancer Center.

On Thursday, November 9, the Jean & Joan Fund Committee met at the new Tunnell Cancer Center at the Beebe Health Campus on Route 24. At that meeting a check was presented to Jeff Fried, President and CEO, Beebe Medical Center and Cherrie Rich, Director, Tunnell Cancer Center in the amount of $30,000. This check presentation brings the total contributions made to the Cancer Center from the Jean & Joan Fund to $192,000. Contributions from the fund have been used to purchase the Tunnell Shuttle, which is used to transport patients to and from the center, medical equipment, and the new Jean & Joan Fund New Reflections Center at the Tunnell Cancer Center.

The Jean & Joan Fund was created by a group of Kings Creek Country Club members and through their efforts it has become Kings Creek Country Club's official charity. It has taken hours/days/years of volunteer work done in a collective, collegial and supportive manner to accomplish a common goal.

Sponsors for the event were: Midway Realty, Crowley Associates Realty, Ron & Tricia Ritthaler, Paul & Fran Esposito, Shoal Construction, Gorman Services, Wilson Baker Inc., USExpress, Meoli Companies, Beebe Medical Center, Bear Industries, Peninsula Masonry, Barto Property Management, The Andrews Family, Jack Lingo Realtor, and the Bank of Delmarva.
