Beebe Medical Center President Jeffrey M. Fried Receives Executive Award

Jeffrey M. Fried, FACHE, President and CEO of Beebe Medical Center, received the American College of Healthcare Executives Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Regent's Award at the 10th annual Delaware Healthcare Forum in Dover this week.

The award was presented to Mr. Fried by Deborah L. Watson, FACHE, the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Regent for the Delaware Area and Vice President, Operations, of the Southern Region for Bayhealth Medical Center. The Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Regent's Award recognizes ACHE affiliates who are experienced in the field and have significantly contributed toward the advancement of healthcare management excellence and the achievement of the goals of ACHE.

Affiliates are evaluated on leadership ability, innovative and creative management, executive capability in developing their own organization and promoting its growth and stature in the community, contributions to the development of others in the healthcare profession, leadership in local, state, or provincial hospital and health association activities, participation in civic and community activities and projects, and participation in ACHE activities and interest in assisting ACHE in achieving its objectives.

Earlier this year, Mr. Fried and his executive team were named the 2006 Top Leadership Team in Healthcare -- small hospital category, by HealthLeaders Media, the publisher of HealthLeaders Magazine.

Mr. Fried has served as President and CEO of Beebe Medical Center since 1995. Previously, he served as President of Lancaster General Hospital's for-profit sister corporation for three years and Chief Operating Officer of 500-bed Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Fried is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, demonstrating a commitment to professional excellence. He has been involved with a number of community organizations, serving on the Boards of Big Brothers, the Child Abuse Prevention Committee of Central Pennsylvania, the Clinic for Special Children, the Pennsylvania Academy of Music, the Welsh Mountain Medical and Dental Center, Delaware Hospice, the Rehoboth Art League, the American Heart Association, and the Sussex Family YMCA. He is a past President of the Lewes Chamber of Commerce and continues to serve on its board. He is a graduate of the Leadership Lancaster Program, is listed in Who's Who in America, and is also a past member of the Young President's Organization (YPO).

Presently, Mr. Fried is a member of the Institute of Health Executives and Suppliers, a Senior Scholar in the Department of Health Policy for Jefferson Medical College, a member of the Executive Council of the Delaware Alliance for Excellence, a member of the Board of Directors of the Delaware Healthcare Association, and a member of the Board of Directors of Delaware National Bank. He has been a member of the adjunct faculty for Penn State University, St. Francis College, the MBA Program at Lebanon Valley College and the Graduate Program in Health Care Administration at Wilmington College.

Mr. Fried received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas in 1975, and his Master's Degree in Health Care Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1979.
