The Tunnell Cancer Cented Hosted its Third Successful Miracle Mile
06/12/06
More than 100 cancer survivors, caregivers and others who wanted to show support for survivors participated in the recent Third Annual Tunnell Cancer Center Miracle Mile that took place on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk.
It was an inspirational event celebrating survivorship, camaraderie and hope, said organizer Judith Ramirez, the Tunnell Cancer Center social worker.
The event began at Epworth United Methodist Church on Baltimore Avenue. Opening remarks were made by Jeffrey M. Fried, President and CEO of Beebe Medical Center, Jo Wilkins, Director of the Sussex County Wellness Center, and Dr. Pramod A. Vadlamani of the Tunnell Cancer Center. Linda Wright, a nurse at the Tunnell Cancer Center, sang an inspirational song.
The Cape Henlopen High School Color Guard and Doug McConnell playing the bagpipes accompanied the participants. Many Tunnell Cancer Center staff members volunteered.
