For the 20th year in a row, Beebe Medical Center has completed another successful Battle of the Bulge, a fun and competitive team approach to weight loss.

More than 360 employees, competing in 24 teams, mixed fun with focus to follow their own exercise and diet programs. After six weeks of weigh-ins, Beebe Medical Center employees lost a collective total of 1,343.25 pounds. Beebe's Employee Health Department calculated all the weight loss by the percentage of body weight lost. One team and two individuals emerged as top losers:

Beebe Medical Center enjoyed another lively Battle of the Bulge this year, with creative team names and enthusiastic employees, explained Jeanne Smith, R.N., of Beebe's Employee Health Department, and originator of the Battle of the Bulge. It's never easy to lose weight, but fighting it as a team, with support and encouragement from coworkers, definitely makes it more fun. Anyone who makes an effort is a winner.

The top losing team was the Satellite Snackers of Satellite Support Services. Team members were: Mary Bragg, Connie Heindel, Jesse Imhoff, Chuck Schafer, Felipe Alvarez, John Mayberry, Margaret McVey & Paul Roth. The top losing woman was Roseann Ferri of Patient Relations and the top losing man was Travis Harris of Radiology.
