Integrative Health Department Offers Seminar to Medical Professionals
01/05/06
The Department of Integrative Health at Beebe Medical Center has invited Mind and Body Healer Judith Swack, PhD, to lead a day-long seminar Saturday, Feb. 4 to introduce nurses, physicians and other healthcare givers to a therapeutic approach she has developed to help patients overcome medically related fears and traumas.
Swack, of Judith A. Swack and Associates of Needham, MA, has a doctorate in biochemistry and immunology and is a Master Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner. She has developed a healing approach called Healing from the Body Level Up, (HBLU) a psychotherapy system that integrates biomedical science, psychology, hypnosis and other energy psychology techniques to help patients overcome the effects of trauma on their lives.
So many times, patients arrive at the hospital for treatment or surgery and are already struggling with fears and phobias from past experiences, explains Cheyenne Luzader, Coordinator of Beebe's Integrative Health Department.
These patients often have difficulty complying with treatment recommendations. They are really in emotional pain, as well as physical. The field of psychology has developed many new techniques that have never been taught to medical professionals. These methods can help professionals, as well as patients, overcome fears and phobias.
Swack will discuss the neurochemistry of the fight or flight reflex in the human mind and how her HBLU healing approach can help patients overcome anxieties caused from previous illness and trauma so that they can better deal with their present illnesses.
Luzader says the seminar is geared toward medical professionals and allied health professionals including massage therapists, yoga instructors, etc. It will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Beebe Medical Center, 424 Savannah Road, Lewes. The cost is $65 per person. Attendees need to register two weeks in advance. To register, call the Department of Integrative Health at (302) 645-3528.
The Integrative Health Department sponsors many seminars throughout the year on a variety of subjects with an emphasis on wellness and disease prevention including, Tai Chi, Stress Management, Massage and Health and Spirituality.
