A recent fundraising dinner event organized by Cloud 9 Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach focused on helping the fight against breast cancer and raised more than $2,200 for Beebe Medical Center.

Beebe Medical Center's Tunnell Cancer Center treats more than 200 cancer patients each day, and takes part in clinical trials that seek breakthroughs in cancer care and treatment. Tunnel Cancer Center's five-year survival rates for its breast cancer patients exceed national averages.

The event was a gourmet dinner October 21 at which diners enjoyed a three-course meal prepared by award-winning chef Marcus Donavan, a wine tasting with wines chosen by sommelier Laura Lamprechet, and music by jazz vocalist Vessa.

It was organized in memory of Patricia Brimm who passed away from breast cancer last year. Mrs. Brimm was the mother of Justine Berdini, the wife of Cloud 9 owner John Berdini. Berdini.

The dinner was well-attended and showed community support for the Berdinis and for Beebe Medical Center.
