08/31/05
Beebe Medical Center recently recognized Dr. and Mrs. James Beebe, Jr., Mrs. Eolyne K. Tunnell, and members of the Dewey Beach Lions Club by presenting them with the 2005 Beebe Honors Awards for the significant contributions they have made to the development of the Beebe Medical Center.
Jeffrey M. Fried, President and CEO of Beebe Medical Center, presented the prestigious awards during an elegant dinner event August 25 at the Clubhouse at Baywood Greens attended by more than 150 people. The event was underwritten by Merrill Lynch and Terry Smith and Keith Martin of Smith/MartinWealth Management Team.
The Beebe Honors program was established three years ago in memory of Norman B. Baylis, John W. Rollin, Sr., and Robert W. Tunnell, Sr., individuals who represent the epitome of volunteerism and generosity that Beebe Medical Center has received from the community since the hospital first opened its doors in 1916.
Mrs. Tunnell was presented with the Excellence in Healthcare award named after Norman B. Baylis, who served as a member of the Medical Center's Board for 28 years and saw Beebe as not only a healthcare provider, but also a community partner. Mrs. Tunnell received the award for her commitment to the community and her generosity to help ensure that Beebe meets the healthcare needs of our growing community. Her son Robert Tunnell, Jr., accepted the award on her behalf.
The Dewey Beach Lions Club was presented with the Healthcare Philanthropy award named after John W. Rollins, Sr., who felt that personal wealth was a poor measure of success if one did not give back to the community. The organization received the award for its generous support of quality healthcare throughout Sussex County and the world through philanthropy. Lions Club President Steve Stone accepted the award on behalf of the organization.
Dr. and Mrs. Beebe were presented with the Award for Service to Beebe Medical Center named after Robert W. Tunnell, Sr., who appreciated the need to bring sophisticated cancer care and other advanced care to the residents and visitors to southern Delaware. Dr. and Mrs. Beebe received the award for their steadfast support and personal involvement in the development of both Beebe Medical Center and Beebe Medical Foundation, ensuring quality healthcare services for our community.
