Beebe Welcomes Steel Band From Trinidad

The Trinidad steel drum group Golden Hands visited Beebe Medical Center and met with staff members as a part of its tour of Sussex County.

Trip organizers requested a visit to Beebe because some Golden Hands group members were interested in healthcare careers. The group arrived in Sussex County on June 30 at the invitation of the Southern Delaware School of the Arts steel drum bands "Steel the Show" and "Plenty Problem" through instructor John Syphard.

During the luncheon, Marge White, PhD, Vice President of Patient Care Services at Beebe Medical Center, welcomed the students and provided information on nursing and other healthcare careers. Ava Wright and Renee Weer, laboratory supervisors, explained the role of laboratory staff in the medical field.

To help defray the traveling expenses Golden Hands, compact discs are being sold for $25. Contact John Syphard at 302-537-9320 to purchase one.
