Beebe Recognizes Employees With "You Make A Difference" Award

06/23/05

Beebe Medical Center is pleased to announce and congratulate its most recent You Make A Difference" award winners: Ellen Tolbert, Director of Patient Relations, and Rudy Daisey, respiratory therapist.

Brian Hill, MSM, RNFA, CNOR, Quality Outcomes Analyst with the Clinical Effectiveness Department, nominated Tolbert for her willingness to help not only patients, but fellow team members, and for her positive attitude.
Without hesitation, Ellen always has answered his questions, he wrote, even while at home on her day off.

Hill also noted Tolbert's efforts to make the public areas in the hospital more inviting with plants, plenty of chairs and even a play area for children.
I think this demonstrates Ellen's day-to-day function as continually thinking of our number one priority - our patients. I salute you Ellen for your continued can do attitude and a job well done.

Tolbert has been with Beebe since 1998. She is responsible for patient rights and advocacy, patient satisfaction and interpretive services.

Rudy Daisey was nominated by his colleagues Alice Steijn, RRT-RPSGT, a polysomnograther in the Sleep Lab, and former tech Michele D. Webb for his efforts to help others, his positive and caring attitude, his ability to work effectively with staff, as well as physicians and management, and his skills and knowledge.

He is an asset to the Respiratory Department and Beebe Medical Center, Steijn wrote. Staff acknowledges his skills and leadership abilities. He is a positive motivator.

Daisey is the Sleep Lab's lead tech, says Trina Clark, RRT, Director of Respiratory, Sleep, EKG and EEG Services.

Rudy started here fresh out of college approximately 14 years ago and has been an outstanding employee, she said. He thrives on enhancing his knowledge and is the most cross-trained employee in my department. He is proficient in delivering respiratory therapy in the acute and general care areas of BMC. He is also proficient in pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy assisting, EKG testing and EEG testing. He believes in the team concept and is a great asset to Beebe.

Beebe Medical Center's You Make A Difference employee recognition program, which was established in 2002, gives employees the opportunity to recognize their colleagues for outstanding service. The program is similar to an employee of the month program, but 18 employees can be selected annually. Each nomination, which may be submitted by fellow employees or management, must meet criteria developed by the committee. The You Make A Difference Review Board evaluates eligible nominations each month. Winners are announced in a surprise ceremony in which the committee meets in their department and presents the award. Employees selected for the award receive:

§ Parking space with sign/plaque for a month
§ $100 gift certificate to business of choice within Sussex County
§ Letter of congratulations and personal visit from Jeffrey Fried, Beebe president
§ Photo for wall plaque on hall outside of cafeteria
§ Special pin for badge
