Beebe Art Auction Breaks Records
06/20/05
Beebe Medical Center's 16th Annual "Best of the Beach" Art Auction, Dinner and Dance Event that took place June 11 turned out to be a record-breaking success.
More than $200,000 was raised for Beebe Medical Center, a record that dwarfed last year's total of $137,599, and the 2003 total of $78,255.
A record number of people also attended - 804. Tickets were sold out weeks before the event. And, if that were not enough records, the featured painting, Five Umbrellas, by Rehoboth Beach painter Andrew Criss, was auctioned for a record $13,000. This year's raffle, with its three exciting prizes, also raised a record $9,780, more than three times the $2,764 raised by last year's raffle.
Everything turned out wonderfully, Beebe Medical Foundation Executive Director Mike Clemmer said. He added, I want to especially credit the hard work done by the foundation staff and all the Beebe volunteers who made this event the success that it was.
