Beebe School of Nursing Offers Baby-sitting Classes

- The Beebe School of Nursing invites girls and boys ages 12 to 14 to participate in baby-sitter education classes. The two-day classes are scheduled for June at the Beebe School of Nursing. The dates are June 20 to 21, June 23 to 24, and June 27 to 28. They will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Students will learn how to be safe and effective baby-sitters. Instructors will be registered nurses, a Delaware State policeman, and an instructor from the state fire school.

Topics to be covered include: characteristics and qualities of a good sitter; child development and age-appropriate activities; safe home practices for fire and protection; and infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and airway obstruction management. Students will get hands-on practice in First Aid and CPR.

Classes will be take place at Beebe School of Nursing, located directly behind Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. The cost is $30 per student. Participants should bring a bag lunch both days. Sodas and snacks will be provided.
