2005 Best of the Beach Art Auction

04/01/05

Beebe Medical Foundation recently hosted the Kick-Off for the 16th Annual Best of the Beach Art Auction Dinner & Dance at the home of Lacy and Victor Letonoff. PNC Advisors was the underwriter for the Kick-Off event.

This year's Best of the Beach will take place Saturday, June 11, from 6 pm to 11 pm, under a tent on the grounds of the Beebe Medical Center. The Foundation is preparing to accommodate up to 800 attendees who will enjoy a well-planned, lively evening of art, music, and gourmet food.

During the Kick-Off event Nancy Hawpe, Art Auction Event Chair, welcomed new volunteers, as well as returning, experienced committee members. Committee Chairs reported on work in progress, and shared plans for changes to make this year's event even more exciting than before.

The annual Best of the Beach fundraiser galvanizes community support for both Beebe Medical Center and the Rehoboth Art League. This important fundraising event becomes more exciting each year, and well deserves its top billing as the most enjoyable evening of the summer season.

Last year, the event raised more than $137,000 for the Foundation, and more than $33,000 for the Rehoboth Art League. The proceeds from this year's art auction will be devoted to the expansion of Beebe's Emergency Department and to the Rehoboth Art League's Outreach Program in minority communities.

Andrew Criss, a painting teacher at the Rehoboth Art League, has been commissioned for this year's featured artwork, Five Umbrellas. Andrew works in oils, painting both landscapes and portraits. His latest exhibition, Grand and Simple Landscapes, hangs in the Delaware Division of the Arts Carvel Gallery in Wilmington. Our community is rich with talented artists and we are fortunate each year to be able to showcase the works of many fine artists who generously donate their work, or a percentage of the sales proceeds, to the Foundation and the Art League, said Mike Clemmer, Executive Director, Beebe Medical Foundation.

Jennifer Robino, Co-Chair of this year's event and Chair of the Decorating Committee, with her husband Mark Robino, will host the annual Pre-Gala Party on May 7 in Rehoboth Beach Yacht & Country Club. This year's Pre-Gala Party will have a Derby theme.
