Gull House Sweetheart Dance Raises over $3,000 for Alzheimer's Association

Beebe Medical Center's Gull House Adult Activity Center started its fundraising early for the Alzheimer's Association's Memory Walk with a "Sweetheart Dance" on Friday, February 11, 2005. The night was filled with fun, dancing, and fellowship for clients, caregivers and friends. The money collected from ticket sales, 50/50 raffle, silent auction and photographs (courtesy of Timeless Images in Lewes) totaled approximately $3,200. This money will benefit the Delaware Valley Alzheimer's Association. The Memory Walk in Rehoboth Beach will be October 1, 2005, at Grove Park.

Gull House, located at Terrace Road and Route 1 in Rehoboth, is Beebe Medical Center's structured and supervised Adult Activities Center designed for people age 60 and older who are functionally disabled and need daytime care. The primary goal is to avoid or forestall institutional placement and to support or improve the mental, emotional, and physical level of functioning to enhance and improve the quality of life for patients, and provide quality respite care to family caregivers. Missing from the presentation was Melissa Mallet, Recreation Therapist.
