09/21/04
Invitations are in the mail for Beebe Medical Foundation's 17th Annual Thanksgiving Ball, Saturday, November 6, 2004, at the Baycenter at Ruddertowne in Dewey Beach. Proceeds will benefit Beebe Medical Center's Vision 2005 Capital Campaign, and specifically, the expansion and renovation of the Emergency Department. Honorary Co-chairs are Dr. and Mrs. James Beebe, Jr. Event Chairman is H. Keith Henry, and Co-chairs are Rob White and Dennis Chupella. For more information on the Thanksgiving Ball or to receive an invitation, please contact Eric Davison at 644-2951, ext. 10, or email edavison@bbmc.org. Underwriting and sponsorship opportunities are still available as well.
Each year, a signature component of the Thanksgiving Ball is the spectacular ambiance created by dozens of volunteers, designers and sponsors, interpreting a specific theme in table decorations. "Guests will be treated to a cosmopolitan and colorful extravaganza as the decorating committee works its magic with our theme, "Countries of the World," remarked Jennifer Robino, Decorating Committee Co-chair. "It's quite a visual rush when people first arrive, and this outstanding creative effort helps to position the Ball as the premiere and most anticipated fund-raising event in southern Delaware."
A welcoming reception kicks off the evening at 6 p.m. together with an extensive and diversified silent auction. A seated dinner follows at 8 p.m. with dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight. Seating is limited and, historically, the event is a sell-out, so please reserve early.
As with every year, raffle chances are being sold to win $1,000 plus a gift basket of international culinary delights. Tickets will be on sale for the raffle basket beginning September 29, 2004, as well as the evening of the event.
Net proceeds from the Thanksgiving Ball will help Beebe accommodate the challenges of serving a fast-growing community with both year-round and seasonal residents who depend on Beebe Medical Center to deliver quality healthcare with an expert staff and modern medical equipment. "The renovation and expansion of the Emergency Department will allow Beebe to double the number of beds from 18 to 36, with a capacity for handling more than 60,000 emergency visits per year," commented Michael Clemmer.
