Plans Underway for 17th Annual Thanksgiving Ball
08/30/04
Preparations are in full swing for the upcoming 17th Annual Thanksgiving Ball, hosted by the Beebe Medical Foundation. This year’s event is set for Saturday, November 6, 2004, 6 p.m. - midnight at the Baycenter at Ruddertowne in Dewey Beach. Proceeds from the event will benefit Beebe Medical Center’s Vision 2005 Campaign, and specifically, the Emergency Department’s renovation and expansion. The event is being chaired by H. Keith Henry and co-chaired by Rob White and Dennis Chupella.
Members of the Benefit Committee gathered August 24 at the home of H. Keith Henry and Steve Maslovich in Lewes for an early evening Kick-Off meeting and reception. The event was underwritten and catered by Alex Pires and Classic Catering.
This year, the volunteer designers will exhibit their work by decorating the tables in the “Countries of the World” theme. Committee members enlist the extraordinary talents of a small army of designers whose combined efforts make this a creative, colorful and enjoyable evening, and the premier fundraising event in southern Delaware.
“Beebe faces the challenge of serving a fast growing community with both year-round and seasonal residents counting on Beebe Medical Center to delivery convenient, quality healthcare with expert staff and modern medical equipment,” said Michael Clemmer, director of the Vision 2005 Campaign. “With the renovation and expansion of our Emergency Department, we will be able to double the number of available beds from 18 to 36, with a capacity for handling more than 60,000 emergency visits per year.”
The festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a reception and extensive silent auction. A seated dinner follows at 8 p.m., with dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight. Attire is black-tie optional.
The Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to help strengthen patient care programs and services of Beebe Medical Center through grant funding, planned giving, capital campaigns, and fundraising events, such as the Thanksgiving Ball in November and the “Best of the Beach” Art Auction in June of each year.
Seating is limited and this will be a sold out event. Invitations will be in the mail by September 20.
