Beebe Medical Center Recognizes Employees through “You Make a Difference” Award
08/13/04
Beebe Medical Center is pleased to announce and congratulate its most recent “You Make A Difference” award winners: Janet Zary, Printer, Materials Department; Terri Wyatt, RN, Beebe School of Nursing; and the Satellite Support Team at the Beebe Health Campus, which includes: Jesse Imhof, Felipe Alvarez, John Mayberry, Don Arsenault, Jason Walters, and Jason Hernandez
Janet Zary was nominated by Carol Thomas, Director of Medical Records, for always being willing to assist hospital staff with a range of projects, many of which are time-sensitive and require juggling multiple priorities. Ms. Zary supplies forms continuously to all patient care areas and departments and prepares materials for special presentations for many departments throughout the year. She carefully monitors all forms to insure efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and this year was especially helpful with the opening of Millville Emergency Center, which required revisions to all forms. “Janet is truly an asset to Beebe Medical Center and should be recognized for her daily contributions,” her nomination explains.
Terri Wyatt, RN, is Beebe Medical Center’s bereavement counselor for patients who have suffered a fetal death, whether it is early in a pregnancy or at term. Nancy Hastings, RN, IBCLC, and Lactation Specialist nominated Ms. Wyatt for “her wonderful calm demeanor, compassion and sincerity.” As the nomination describes, “Terri quickly develops a rapport with these families that has been known to last for months and on occasion, years. She comes to visit the patient after delivery to assist with the care of the infant. These families can and do call her anytime, day or night, if they need to talk. She sees that many memorabilia are given to these families in keepsake, hand painted boxes. She attends memorial services and visits families at home. Occasionally a patient will not feel she needs this service and Terri will graciously respect her decision. She helps to seek donations to assist with burial if there is a financial need. She is awesome!”
The Satellite Support Team, which provides maintenance support at the Beebe Health Campus, includes Jesse Imhof, Felipe Alvarez, John Mayberry, Don Arsenault, Jason Walters, Jason Hernandez. A team of employees at the Beebe Health Campus nominated the group, including Neal Kubala, April Hitchens, Celeste Small, Lee Ann Sears, Dr. Carl Abromowicz, Lisa Kline, Janet Spinelli, Leslie Boslet, Barbara Foster, Linda Richardson, PJ Vicidomini, Dr. Michael Ramjattansingh, Kimberly Johnson, Sandy Bradford and Pat Schmac. As the nomination states, this group of gentlemen never fails to smile and say good morning, every job is done in a most timely manner and done accurately, and they go out of their way to complete or begin a task, around varied schedules and the schedules of the radiologists, be it 6 a.m. or later. During the February snowstorm, the campus was meticulously cleaned for employees and outpatients. "They were cleaning well before we arrived, and never complained throughout the day."
Beebe Medical Center’s “You Make A Difference” employee recognition program, which was established in 2002, gives employees the opportunity to recognize their colleagues for outstanding service. The program is similar to an employee of the month program, but 18 employees can be selected annually. Each nomination, which may be submitted by fellow employees or management, must meet criteria developed by the committee. The “You Make A Difference” Review Board evaluates eligible nominations each month. Winners are announced in a surprise ceremony in which the committee meets in their department and presents the award. Employees selected for the award receive:
§ Parking space with sign/plaque for a month
§ $100 gift certificate to business of choice within Sussex County
§ Letter of congratulations and personal visit from Jeffrey Fried, Beebe president
§ Photo for wall plaque on hall outside of cafeteria
§ Special pin for badge
§ Letter to team member’s director and department recognition
