Beebe’s Outpatient Care Center Earns American College of Radiology Certification
07/13/04
Beebe Medical Center’s Outpatient Care Center at the Beebe Health Campus has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation for obstetrical, gynecological and general ultrasound imaging services, as well as breast ultrasound, as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR), Committee on Ultrasound Accreditation of the Commission on Quality and Safety. The extensive accreditation process includes over five months of preparation to establish protocols and quality assurance measures, as well as regular equipment testing.
“The American College of Radiology’s accreditation process is arduous and provides a high level of confidence for patients and physicians that Beebe’s ultrasound services deliver high quality care,” explains Neal Kubala, Administrative Coordinator of Diagnostic Imaging at the Beebe Health Campus. “We are extremely pleased to achieve this successful accreditation, which is the result of the commitment and effort our staff puts forth to ensure we achieve the highest standards of care.”
Beebe Medical Center offers ultrasound services at the Outpatient Care Center at the Beebe Health Campus, at Beebe Medical Center, and at Beebe Imaging in Georgetown. All Beebe ultrasound units are ACR accredited.
The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Virginia, awards accreditation of facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of its practice. Board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field conduct evaluations and assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists and medical physicists with programs for focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive healthcare services.
