07/13/04

The Lewes/Rehoboth Rotary Club recently presented the first installment of a $5,000 pledge to Beebe Medical Center’s Vision 2005 Capital Campaign. Bob Lore, President, and Tom Reale, Treasurer of the Lewes/Rehoboth Rotary presented Jeffrey M. Fried, CEO and President of Beebe Medical Center, with a check toward the organization’s pledge.

“Our club voted to make this pledge to Beebe Medical Center in support of our mission to help youth and seniors in our community,” commented Bob Lore during the presentation ceremony. “The Lewes/Rehoboth Rotarians acknowledge that supporting our community hospital is one of the most fitting ways to accomplish our mission.”

The Vision 2005 Capital Campaign is the largest fundraising drive in Beebe’s history. When completed, Vision 2005 will raise $12 million dollars for three capital building projects. Seven million dollars has already been raised and has helped to fund the new Outpatient Care Center on the Beebe Health Campus and significant infrastructure improvements on the Lewes Campus. The second phase of the campaign is now underway and will support the expansion and renovation of the Beebe Emergency Department.

“The Lewes/Rehoboth Rotary Club has been a long time supporter of Beebe Medical Center and annually awards scholarships for academic excellence to students attending the Beebe School of Nursing,” Jeffrey M. Fried explained. “We are extremely pleased with the Rotary’s support of the expansion of the Emergency Department and hope their gift will serve as an example to other civic organizations in our community to provide support for this critically important project.”

The 60-member Lewes/Rehoboth Rotary Club celebrated its 75th year of supporting various community wide events and causes in 2003.
