Beebe Medical Foundation’s 15th Annual “Best of the Beach” Art Auction, Dinner and Dance, this Saturday, June 12, promises to be the best attended in the event’s history. Due to an overwhelming early response, the event is “sold out,” with over 700 advance tickets sold. Tickets are not available at the door.

This year, the Art Auction will benefit Beebe Medical Center’s Vision 2005 Capital Campaign, specifically the expansion and renovation of Beebe’s Emergency Department on the Savannah Road Campus. The event will also benefit the Rehoboth Art League’s children’s art education outreach programs in minority communities. Christine Strauss of Rehoboth Beach is event Chairman; Nancy Hawpe is Co-Chairman. Distinguished Honorary Chairman is Jean Ellen duPont Shehan.

“We are certainly thrilled by community response to the Art Auction and thank all of our sponsors and supporters who have contributed to the event’s early interest and success, ” explains Mike Clemmer, Executive Director of the Beebe Medical Foundation. “We regrettably cannot accommodate more than the 700 guests who already plan to attend and hope anyone who was not able to attend this year will consider joining us in November at the Thanksgiving Ball and next spring at the 16th Annual “Best of the Beach” Art Auction.”

“Best of the Beach” festivities have a ‘Cirque des Arts’ theme this year. The event is held under a tent on the grounds of Beebe Medical Center and begins at 6:00 p.m. with a reception and silent auction bidding, followed by a buffet dinner catered by Linda Frear of Hearts Delight. Auctioneer Don Moore of Seaford will host the live auction segment featuring an original watercolor created especially for the event by Rehoboth Beach artist Sharon Howe Myers entitled “Cool Blues.” Immediately following the live auction, guests will trip-the-light-fantastic until 11:00 p.m.
