Sussex Emergency Associates Contributes $110,000 Toward Vision 2005
02/02/04
Physicians of Sussex Emergency Associates recently contributed $110,000 toward the Beebe Medical Foundation’s Vision 2005 Capital Campaign to boost funding for the Emergency Department expansion.
After construction, which is expected to begin this fall, the Emergency Department will grow from 18 beds to 36 emergency beds. Beebe Medical Center will expand the Emergency Department to meet the increasing needs of both year-round residents and seasonal visitors to eastern Sussex County. Annual visits to the Emergency Department have grown from 27,000 to more than 30,000 visits over the past three years.
“With continued growth projected for our community over the next several years, we want to ensure we are prepared to care for the emergency medical needs of our year-round residents and seasonal visitors,” remarked Jeffrey Fried, President of Beebe Medical Center.
“Our commitment to Beebe and dedication toward providing the best possible emergency care in the best possible facility was the driving incentive for Sussex Emergency Associates’ support of this project,” commented Dr. Thomas Shreeve, President of Sussex Emergency Associates.
In addition to the emergency department expansion, Vision 2005, the largest capital campaign in the Medical Center’s 87-year history, has helped fund construction of the Outpatient Care Center at the Beebe Health Campus, which opened in September 2003, and major infrastructure improvements at the Lewes campus.
