Beebe Medical Center Recognizes Employees Making a Difference

02/02/04

Beebe Medical Center’s employee recognition program, called “You Make A Difference,” gives employees the opportunity to recognize colleagues for outstanding service. The program is similar to an employee of the month program, but 18 employees can be selected annually. Beebe commends Teresa Owens, Director of Human Resources at the Lewes Convalescent Center (LCC), and Barbara Tucker, Unit Secretary III, Critical Care Unit, who garnered recognition this week for outstanding service to fellow team members and Beebe Medical Center patients.

Janet Maull, Receptionist at LCC, nominated Teresa Owens for always taking time to solve employee problems or concerns and always being accessible. Her award-winning nomination thanked Teresa for making LCC a great place to work.

Candy Meadows, RN, nominated Barbara Tucker for a list of attributes, including being “punctual, dependable, a perfectionist, gregarious, and polite.” The nomination cites Barbara’s positive attitude and being, “fun to work with, always helpful, going beyond the call of duty with exemplary organizational skills.” Barbara instituted several timesaving steps for unit paperwork as well.

Each nomination, which may be submitted by fellow employees or management, must meet criteria developed by the committee. The “You Make A Difference” Review Board evaluates eligible nominations each month. Employees selected for the award receive:

§ Parking space with sign/plaque for a month
§ $100 gift certificate to business of choice within Sussex County
§ Letter of congratulations and personal visit from Jeffrey Fried, Beebe president
§ Photo for wall plaque on hall outside of cafeteria
§ Special pin for badge
§ Letter to team member’s director and department recognition
§ Luncheon award presentation
