Couple Shares 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration with Tunnell Cancer Center

12/11/03

The Beebe Medical Foundation and Beebe Medical Center’s Tunnell Cancer Center congratulate Milton residents Mr. and Mrs. Bob Willey on two important milestones: 50 years of marriage and Mrs. Willey’s three-year survival following breast cancer. Friends and family hosted a 50th anniversary party for the Willey’s on November 8, 2003. In a generous and creative gesture, Mr. and Mrs. Willey encouraged their friends that in lieu of anniversary gifts they should make contributions through Beebe Medical Foundation to the Tunnell Cancer Center.

“After 50 years of marriage and surviving breast cancer, we realized we have everything we need,” Mr. and Mrs. Willey explained. “Especially at this time of year, we are grateful for our friends and family, many of whom have been touched by cancer, and wanted their gifts to benefit others who need support.” To date the Willey’s anniversary party guests have contributed over $3,930, which will be used to support the programs and services at the Tunnell Cancer Center.

“Our goal at the Tunnell Cancer Center is to provide comprehensive cancer services in a caring and supportive environment,” explains Dr. Srihari Peri, Director Medical Oncology. “We thank the Willeys for the generous and caring gift they are providing patients with cancer, through their kind gesture, and their friends' and families’ loving support. We wish them many future anniversaries.”

The Beebe Medical Foundation receives many gifts and endowments named in memory or in honor of individuals, families and organizations. Individuals interested in making a contribution in honor of the Willeys, or in establishing a named endowment fund, should contact the Beebe Medical Foundation at 644-2900.
