Jean & Joan Fund Meets Four-Year Goal, Donates $100,000 to Tunnell Cancer Center

11/11/03

The Jean & Joan Fund Committee presented a check for $28,000 to Beebe president Jeffrey Fried on Thursday, November 6, 2003, in celebration of its successful fourth-annual golf tournament to benefit Beebe Medical Center’s Tunnell Cancer Center. This donation marks a milestone achievement for the Jean & Joan Fund, which has now reached its fundraising goal of raising $100,000 in four years toward the Tunnell Cancer Center’s care and services for patients with cancer. Beebe Medical Center will dedicate proceeds from this year's tournament, which was held October 7, 2003, toward funding a van to help transport patients receiving cancer treatments at the Tunnell Cancer Center. The next tournament will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at Kings Creek Country Club.

The Jean & Joan Fund was established in the memory of Jean James and Joan Martin, two area women who lost their valiant battles with cancer. The Jean & Joan Fund has organized a golf tournament at Kings Creek Country Club for the past four years to support its goal of assisting the Tunnell Cancer Center. These generous donations have enabled Beebe to provide numerous support services for patients, including establishing the Jean & Joan Image and Recovery Center at the Tunnell Cancer Center - a resource to help patients deal with the effects cancer treatments can have on self-esteem and appearance, and provide educational materials and Internet access to a cancer resources library.
