Beebe Celebrates Medical Staff in Honor of Doctors' Day
03/17/03
Beebe Medical Center celebrates physicians in honor of National Doctors’ Day on March 30 and acknowledges the innumerable contributions they make every day to medical advancements as well as our area’s growing healthcare needs. Over the past decade, Beebe’s active medical staff has grown by 100 physicians - from 71 to 171 - which has allowed the Medical Center to expand its range of medical services, meet the increased volume of our escalating population, as well increase customer service to our patients. Beebe’s physicians span almost 40 different specialties, which means care is available to those in our community who have a variety of medical needs.
To quantify our progress, Beebe measures patient satisfaction through the national firm Press, Ganey Associates, in which Beebe patients complete customer satisfaction surveys that are ranked against those of 855 other medical institutions nationwide. Beebe physicians across all specialties consistently rank in the top fifth percentile nationwide.
About Doctors’ Day: The first “Doctors' Day” was celebrated seventy years ago on March 30, 1933, by the Barrow County Auxiliary in Winder, Georgia to commemorate the date that Georgian Crawford W. Long, MD, first used ether anesthesia in surgery. In 1935, the Southern Medical Association Auxiliary began promoting Doctors' Day celebrations. National Doctors’ Day was established in 1990 by President George Bush to show appreciation for physicians’ roles in caring for the sick, promoting good health and advancing medical knowledge.
