Tunnell Cancer Center Partners with Community Resource Center to Offer Healthcare Screenings and Education
10/27/11
"As part of Tunnell Cancer Center's, 'Early Detection Connection' initiative, free healthcare screenings will be offered at the Community Resource Center at 37439 Oyster House Road in Rehoboth Beach. The public is welcome.
Those attending the event will have an opportunity to speak with a registered nurse about ways to reduce their cancer risk. They also will learn about screenings for breast, colon, cervical, skin and prostate cancers.
The event will take place on Wednesday, November 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Each person who attends will receive a gift and a chance to enter into a free raffle to win a gift certificate. A light dinner and refreshments will be served.
The Beebe Medical Center Community Outreach nursing team will perform blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar screenings. Also, women can sign up for an appointment for a no-cost mammogram (if qualified). Men can learn whether a prostate screening - Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test - is right for them, and have their blood drawn that evening.
Call 302-645-3169 to make a reservation for the prostate screening blood test. This test will not be done without an appointment. Call 302-645-3100, ext. 2718, with questions.
