Beebe Emergency Management Coordinator Receives National Designation

Cheryl Littlefield, RN, CHEP, Beebe Medical Center Emergency Management Coordinator, has been designated a Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional, Master Level, by The Board of Certified Hazard Control Management, International Board for Certification of Safety Managers.

The certification recognizes Ms. Littlefield's professionalism in emergency management and disaster planning in the healthcare arena.

Ms. Littlefield has served as the Emergency Management Coordinator at Beebe for almost 4 years. She has worked at Beebe Medical Center since 2001, and has been a registered nurse for 20 years. Prior to taking the position in January 2008, most of her experience has been in the Emergency Department.


She is responsible for organizing the hospital's disaster preparedness program which includes organizing disaster drills, using grant money to purchase Emergency Management equipment, heading the Emergency Management Committee and Emergency Response Core Team, and taking a leadership role as the hospital prepares for a pending disaster. She makes certain that Beebe Medical Center's efforts are coordinated with local, county and state emergency management. Ms. Littlefield also serves as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (S.A.N.E) nurse and a transport nurse for the medical center.

Ms. Littlefield gained her nursing training at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Norristown, PA, and Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, PA. She is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from American Military University.

The Board of Certified Hazard Control Management is a non-profit organization established in 1976 to validate and recognize to effectively support the objectives and goals related to effective healthcare emergency management.
