09/12/11

The 8th Annual Cripple Creek Country Club/Beebe Medical Foundation Progress for Prostate Charity Golf Tournament, held this summer at Cripple Creek Golf & Country Club, raised $23,500 in support of Tunnell Cancer Center. The tournament included a play reading-and-pasta dinner the night before the tournament and silent and live auctions the day of the tournament.

RE/MAX by the Sea sponsored four hole-in-one contests while Miken Builders was the putting contest underwriter. Dinner underwriters included Bob and Judie Davis, Baltimore Life Insurance, and Urology Associates of Southern Delaware. Print materials were underwritten by Dr. Srihari Peri, Medical Director of Tunnell Cancer Center.

Since its inception the tournament has raised more than $150,000 towards free prostate cancer screenings and awareness programs at Beebe Medical Center's Tunnell Cancer Center. This year's event was held in honor of all Cripple Creek Country Club members who are prostate cancer survivors. Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer found in American men, other than skin cancer. Treatment can be effective, and early detection is key.
