Beebe School of Nursing Sponsors the 18th Conference by the Bay on April 21

The Eighteenth Conference by the Bay, a daylong educational seminar for nurses sponsored by Beebe Medical Center School of Nursing, will take place Thursday, April 21, at the Atlantic Sands in Rehoboth Beach. The purpose of the Conference by the Bay is to provide nursing professionals in the Mid-Atlantic region with updates on nursing for 2011. This year's speakers will touch on subjects related to cancer, bariatrics, heart failure, healthcare reform, grieving children and leadership.
The speakers and their topics are:
James E. Spellman, Jr., MD, FACS, FSSO -- Thyroid Cancer Trends & Treatment;
Patricia A Houston, RN, MPH, MEd -- Nursing Care of the Bariatric Patient;
Susan C. Felicia, MSN, RN-BC, PCCN -- When Failure is not an Option;
Secretary Rita Landgraf, Delaware Department of Health & Social Services -- Nursing our System Back to Health: the time is ripe for healing the healthcare system;
Malina Spirito, Psy.D, MEd -- Exploring Childhood Grief: Why children grieve differently & ways to support children in the grief process;
Linda Laskowski Jones, RN, MS, ACNS-BC, CEN, FAWM -- Leadership Lessons Learned From Wolves.
Beebe will award 6.3 contact hours via certificate at the completion of the program. Beebe is an approved provider of Nursing Continuing Education by the Delaware Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver of Continuing Education in Nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center on Accreditation.
The day will begin with registration at 7:15 a.m. and will end at 4:10 p.m. The fee for the conference is $100 general registration, $65 Beebe employee or retiree, and $50 for full-time basic nursing student. The cost of registration includes the one-day conference, continental breakfast, break refreshments, conference materials and buffet lunch.
Space is limited so reserve seating by completing the registration form and submitting to Beebe School of Nursing with a check made payable to Beebe School of Nursing, by April 12. An additional $20 late registration fee is required for registrants after the deadline, if space is available. The school is located behind and adjacent to the main campus of the Beebe Medical Center at 424 Savannah Road in Lewes.
