UFC Fighter Nate "Rock" Quarry to take part in a Back Surgery Seminar

Mixed martial arts fighter Nate Rock Quarry nearly gave up his career at age 34 because of degenerative disc disease. But a minimally invasive surgical procedure in 2006 was so successful that it got him back in the ring and on the road promoting the procedure.
Nate has appeared in the television reality show The Ultimate Fighter and competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) circuit.
Nate will share his experiences with his disabling back pain and subsequent successful surgery and recovery at a special event to take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, at the McCurry Conference Center at the Beebe Health Campus at 18947 John J. Williams Highway in Rehoboth Beach.
NuVasive, Inc., a California-based medical device company focused on the design, development, and marketing of products for the surgical treatment of spine disorders and Orthopaedic Associates of Southern Delaware, based in Lewes, are sponsoring his visit. Nate is an official spokesperson of NuVasive.
Lewes orthopaedic surgeon William Pfaff III, MD, who is associated with Orthopaedic Associates and is a member of the Beebe Medical Staff, will provide information on some of the latest minimally invasive spine surgical procedure options.
Dr. Pfaff specializes in spinal reconstructive surgery of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. He earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. He did his residency at in surgery at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia was fellowship-trained in spinal reconstructive surgery at Pennsylvania Hospital, University of Pennsylvania, under the guidance of Richard Balderston, M.D. He has written several professional papers on spine surgery, and is Board eligible with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
