Beebe Medical Foundation Names Mary Green as Event Coordinator
10/29/10
Beebe Medical Foundation announces that Mary Green has taken over as Events Coordinator and already is actively involved in making sure that the 23rd annual Beebe Ball is an enjoyable and memorable fundraising event.
We are pleased that she has become a member of our team, says Alex Sydnor, Executive Director of the Beebe Medical Foundation. She is a familiar face in the community and known for her dedication to supporting volunteers.
Mrs. Green was previously the Program and Event Coordinator of Lower Delaware Autism Foundation, which recently merged with Autism Delaware, based in Newark. She replaces Lee Halloran, who has taken over as Manager of Volunteer Services at Beebe Medical Center.
I am very excited to be supporting Beebe Medical Center in my professional career, Mrs. Green says. It has excellent programs and provides great care. And I am especial partial to Tunnell Cancer Center, where my mother received treatment.
Mrs. Green's mother, local realtor Suzanne Landon, is a 14-year breast cancer survivor. Mrs. Green, who felt helpless as a caregiver when her mother was sick, got involved in the Eastern Sussex Relay for Life event in 1999.
That's when I knew that I wanted to support these kinds of non-profits as a career.
Mrs. Green grew up in Rehoboth Beach and attended Cape Henlopen High School and University of Delaware, where she earned a Bachelors of Science degree in dietetics. She and her husband Frank Green moved to the San Francisco area where she worked as a supervisor for the Food and Nutrition Department at California Pacific Medical Center. The Greens then moved to Southern California where Mrs. Green worked for AIDS Services Foundation in Orange County. She also worked as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society.
We decided to come back here because we wanted to be close to our families, Mrs. Green said. Luckily, my husband's company could relocate him. We enjoy living in the area again, and spending time with friends and family.
Beebe Medical Center is a not-for-profit community medical center with a charitable mission to encourage healthy living, prevent illness, and restore optimal health with the people residing, working, or visiting in the communities we serve.
