Beebe Medical Center Names Lee Halloran as Manager of Volunteer Services
10/22/10
Beebe Medical Center has named Lee Halloran as Manager of Volunteer Services. She will be responsible for recruiting, hiring and placing volunteers in positions throughout Beebe Medical Center, as well as overseeing their efforts.
I am very excited about working with the departments and learning their needs, Ms. Halloran says. I'm also looking forward to getting to know our volunteers and to expand our student program.
Ms. Halloran replaces Becky McCarty, who retired after working for Beebe Medical Center for 36 years. Mrs. McCarty served as Manager of Volunteer Services for the past 15 years and helped developed a group of more than 500 members, which is comprised of active volunteers, auxiliary members and students, who volunteer throughout the Beebe Medical Center organization.
Ms. Halloran joins Beebe Medical Center from the Beebe Medical Foundation, Beebe's fundraising arm, where she last served as Event Coordinator, working with Foundation staff and volunteers on the annual Best of the Beach Art Auction, the annual Beebe Ball, and the three golf tournaments: the annual Jean & Joan Fund Golf Classic, the Progress for Prostate Charity Golf Tournament, and the Classic at Baywood Greens. She most recently coordinated the Treat the Beat 5K Walk, the Foundation's new event to support Beebe Medical Center's cardiovascular program and to encourage healthy lifestyles.
Ms. Halloran joined the Foundation in 2006 as an executive assistant after working 16 years in the legal and IT sectors in New York and Washington DC areas. In a volunteer capacity, she also spent several years as a volunteer coordinator and organizer of the Scottish Highland Games and Celtic Festivals.
Beebe Medical Center has a robust volunteer organization with members helping in various departments, supporting hospital staff and assisting with many patient-care-related efforts. The Auxiliary, the fundraising arm of the volunteer group, organizes many events throughout the year, and runs both the gift shop at the hospital and the Beebe Treasure Chest Thrift Shop in the Midway Shopping Mall on Route 1. So far in 2010, volunteers have given a total of more than 52,400 hours. While the majority of volunteers are adults, an active student program includes 43 high school and college students who give of their time. For more information about the volunteer program, please contact Ms. Halloran at (302) 645-3531.
